Over the duration of this online certificate course, you’ll work through three different sections that are designed to enhance your professional impact. The weeks consist of:

Course orientation

Welcome to your Online Campus

Meet and engage with your learning and peer networks as you navigate the Online Campus.

SECTION I WEEK 1–10:
MBA Essentials

Over ten weeks, you’ll explore the three pillars of business management and leadership: the strategic environment, the financial toolkit, and the human element. You’ll learn through a case-study approach and develop the ability to use human behavioural insights and leadership frameworks to effectively influence a range of internal and external stakeholders.

WEEK 11: Course break – Orientation to Negotiation

SECTION II WEEK 12–17:
Negotiation

Following a one-week course break, you’ll gain the practical skills, academic frameworks, and theoretical insight to increase your negotiating capability, confidence, and success. Over six weeks, you’ll create a personal development plan through interactive sessions and ongoing feedback and hone your unique negotiation style to increase your impact in any context.

WEEK 18: Course break – Orientation to Managing People and Teams

SECTION III WEEK 19–23:
Managing People and Teams

After a one-week break, you’ll discover a holistic approach to people and team management for the modern organisation. This eight-week section prepares you for diverse, flexible, and virtual environments while offering tools for motivating, retaining, and rewarding talent, measuring performance, and nurturing careers.

COURSE CONVENORS

Professor Connson Locke

Professorial Lecturer in Management, Department of Management, LSE

Connson is a senior lecturer in the LSE Department of Management. She joined LSE in 2008 from the Boston Consulting Group, and her areas of expertise are leadership, negotiation, decision-making, and organisational behaviour. Connson is part of the academic leadership team for the Executive Global Master’s in Management, LSE’s cutting-edge alternative to an MBA. Additionally, she teaches the School’s most successful executive course on campus: Achieving Leadership Excellence. Connson holds a PhD and MSc in organisational behaviour from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in sociology from Harvard University. Her research interests include gender and leadership, diversity, and organisational culture.

Dr Tara Reich

Assistant Professor of Employment Relations and Organisational Behaviour

Tara received her BA (Hons) in psychology from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and her MA in social psychology and PhD in organisational behaviour from the University of Manitoba. She teaches courses focused on organisational behaviour at LSE and leads the globally renowned LSE Summer School’s Bargaining and Negotiation: Interests, Information, Strategy and Power short course. She is an expert in employee well-being, with a specific focus on the psychology of workplace mistreatment and influence. Tara has had her work published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Journal of Organizational Behaviour, and Work & Stress.

Dr Aurelie Cnop-Nielsen

LSE Fellow, Department of Management, LSE

Aurelie holds an MSc in business engineering from the IAG Business School at the University of Louvain, Belgium, which she obtained with the highest honours. Upon graduating, Aurelie began her professional career as a consultant at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte. Later, she became senior finance manager for a FTSE100 multinational company, where she led its annual global budgeting exercise. Aurelie has spearheaded several strategic and benchmarking projects for global companies, aimed at helping them navigate change and achieve world-class performance.

Dr Karin A King

LSE Fellow, Department of Management, LSE

Karin is an experienced global human resource (HR) professional and consulting practitioner, who has held leadership positions in corporate HR and professional services. She holds professional designations in HR and management consulting and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. As a lecturer in the Department of Management’s master’s degree programmes, she focuses on strategic HR management, leadership and talent management, organisational behaviour, negotiation, and strategic rewards.
